YONDER RESTAURANT

Yonder is a classic meat and three, owned and operated by Maya Lovelace, located in the Jane Dough building in the Cully neighborhood of Portland. The concept was a 2-in-1 approach, whereby the front space, Yonder would be a counter service, bright, welcoming environment paying homage to Maya’s southern roots where neighbors sat on front porches and inclusivity was the norm. The place to be in the evenings (in the months ahead) will be Mae, a reservations only private dining room, where dinner will be served. The design is located around a central kitchen which is open to both Yonder and Mae. Seating for Yonder was concentrated along the windows, where daylighting adds to the cheeriness of the decor. The decorative concrete block creates the bar as a feature of the space while respecting the humble roots of the owners mentality and solid work ethic.
