JOWERS BUILDING
The Jowers Building is a 2-story brick and wood framed structure on N. Lombard St, in the heart of the St. Johns neighborhood of North Portland. Brett Schulz was hired to renovate the 1906 building, completely replacing the retail/restaurant storefronts, street facing facade and entry vestibule. In addition, the second floor apartments were gutted and replaced with updated 1-bedroom units, with new windows and M/E/P services. The rear wing of the building houses a 2-story office, which was also fully renovated. Working within the many constraints of an un-reinforced masonry building, we were able to give this building a second chance, and contribute to the ongoing renewal of St. Johns as a great place to live, work and shop in Portland.
