BEACH HOUSE ADDITION

An addition to a 30 year old beach house doubles its size by mirroring the volume of the original home, creating two hipped roof cubes that just barely touch at their corners. A large new kitchen fills the triangular connector between the two halves. Sweeping views of the Pacific Ocean are now enjoyed from the new master bedroom, which has direct access to the lower deck via a stainless steel spiral staircase. A large indoor/outdoor living space is adjacent to the deck, where large sliding doors allow control of the environment in various weather conditions. Natural cedar shingles wrap the whole composition, providing familiarity and timelessness.
